Chris grew up in Brownsville, Tennessee where he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and soccer. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served as an IT Systems and Security Engineer for 17 years, including deployments to Iraq and Qatar. Chris also earned an A.A.S. in Electronic System Technology.
In January 2024, Chris was diagnosed with a hyper-coagulation disorder that resulted in a right leg amputation above the knee. While Chris faced substantial challenges in the immediate aftermath of his amputation, he has a strong support system and makes the most of each day. He wants to use his Iron Adaptive experience to become more mobile and return to a physically active lifestyle, and has a goal of completing the MR340 paddle race from Kansas City to St. Louis.
